This week the companies Texel4trading (left picture) and Wattco/Profloating (right picture) installed their floating PV systems on De Slufter at the Maasvlakte. In the coming week also Sunprojects/Floating Solar and Sunfloat will install their systems. They are the four system builders in the National Consortium Zon op Water (Floating Solar), a consortium with more than 30 participants. The pilot is aiming to demonstrate the feasibility of floating solar on rough water. An important step on our way towards the largest floating PV system in Europe!

Early 2017 was the official kick-off of the National Consortium “Zon op Water” (= floating PV or flotovoltaics).
The consortium consists of 30 companies, knowledge institutes and governmental parties. Together they have the ambition to further develop the flotovoltaics technology and to stimulate the realization of floating solar farms.
The ambition is to make a substantial contribution to the Dutch national sustainability goals: 2 GWp floating PV in 2023. The first goal of the consortium is a pilot and research project starting in 2017, focused on storm-resistance of the systems and on electricity yield assessment.
SEAC is leading the consortium. More information can be found here.
