Dutch Consortium
Sun on Water

The energy transition in The Netherlands requires the use of large areas of water for floating PV parks. Floating solar is expected to contribute substantially to the Dutch target of 16% renewable energy in 2023. In order to unlock this potential, the national consortium Floating Solar has been established.

The National Consortium Floating Solar is a partnership of more than 35 parties in The Netherlands. The consortium is led by Rijkswaterstaat and SEAC. Partners in the consortium:

Activities of the consortium:

• Innovation projects, developing and testing of floating PV systems for water with higher waves and more wind;
• Reliable high quality research on yield models for floating solar;
• Develop a harmonized transparent permitting process for floating solar in The Netherlands;
• Bring the bankability of floating PV to a higher level.
